As part of a national listening exercise the Minister for Equalities Emma Roddick met with young people from Gypsy/Traveller communities at Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh last month to hear what they had to say about their experience of schools, education and their plans for their future lives. The event was very useful as the young people were able to share some of the important issues and challenges they have faced with the Minister. Following the event Scottish Government expressed their commitment to improving access to education for young people from the Gypsy/Traveller community.
