The STEP Digital Families programme supports teachers and Traveller families to use digital media for learning and acts as a useful ‘bridge’ to facilitate families with poor engagement return to local authority services. Each participating family receives a Digital Kit, and a key person is identified to facilitate the learning.
We provide support for teachers on the programme through a professional learning network hosted on MS Teams ‘STEP Digital Families PLC’. The Digital Families Network is a forum for sharing good practice, solving challenges, access to bespoke digital resources, and learning new digital skills through interactive workshops. We currently have 53 active members. Our virtual meetings and drop-in surgeries run every two weeks. Workshops focus on different themes chosen by our members and include using new technologies, exploring apps, learning platforms.
If you have new pupils and families you are working with who you think would benefit from the programme and a STEP DigiKit, and you would like to join this network, please get in touch with us: pauline.duncan@ed.ac.uk
