STEP’s new assessment resource will soon be available to use online or to download.

The Digital Rapid Assessment guide (D-Rag) is designed to support teachers working with Gypsy/ Traveller learners.  This guide lets teachers carry out a quick assessment of children’s abilities using accessible activities. The D-Rag is particularly useful when children return after periods of travelling.

There are three separate D-Rag resources. They highlight outcomes and benchmarks in numeracy, reading and writing as initial assessment priorities. However, where possible, the assessments should be introduced as part of an integrated learning context that recognises a child’s strengths and cultural interests.

The D-Rag is free to all teachers working with nomadic learners. While the D-Rag is currently being trialled, it is only available to TENET members via the secure TENET member area on the STEP website. If you are a teacher and would like to join TENET and access the guide, please contact STEP.

Please join us for the launch on Thursday the 6th of October 22 to find out more.
