STEP was delighted to host renowned author, storyteller and playwright Richard O’Neill as part of a 3 day live tour of primary schools in Edinburgh. The live tour was a great success! A big thank you to Granton, St Davids, St Francis, Parson’s Green and Frogston Primary Schools for their warm welcomes and excellent participation. Pupils and staff were enthralled with the stories, activities and the books they received as part of the visits. Richard led interactive and participative workshops with P3-P7 groups covering themes including racism, discrimination, nomadic culture and the Romani language. He also emphasised the importance of literacy and shared tips on what makes a good story and overcoming writers’ block! Richard also led five school assemblies with younger pupils from nursery to P4 using wooden puppets, interactive storying and song. Due to the success of Richard’s tour, we will be hosting him again throughout 2025/26. Get in touch if your schools and pupils would like to take part.
