Event Details

STEP invites you to join us at Godfrey Thomson Hall, Moray House School of Education and Sport, for this national seminar exploring the future of education for Gypsy Traveller communities in Scotland. STEP will share the results of our 2022/23 consultation with community members across Scotland.

Children from Gypsy/Traveller communities experience discrimination in schools and have the poorest educational outcomes of any ethnic group. This event shares research undertaken by STEP in 2022/23, which captured community members’ experiences of education, views on the current system and suggestions for improvements.

The seminar invites education stakeholders to engage with the research findings. The aim is to collaborate in generating proposals for improved experiences for the communities within the current Scottish policy framework.
